Video Questions
- How do I view the videos?
- The videos should be downloaded first and then opened in you media player (e.g., by double-clicking on them). You can download the videos by right-clicking (on Mac, left-click and hold) on the download link and selecting “Save Target As” / “Save Link As”. If you click the links normally, the videos will typically open directly in your media player which may not be able to handle downloading appropriately. You may also use a download manager to download individual video files – this will allow you to resume interrupted downloads or schedule downloads for later.
- What format are your videos in? What software will I need to view them?
- We deliver videos QuickTime/h.264, WMV and
Flash FLV, and at several different bitrates and resolutions:
- Standard Quality h.264 / QuickTime – this is the best quality format we have available, and perfect for downloading to your collection. You can stream them in the Flash player if you have a fast connection (or just pause the player until the video has downloaded, and you’ll get smooth playback). They will play in Apple’s QuickTime player on Mac OS and Windows, in the VLC player, and with recent versions of Flash.
- Standard Quality WMV – this is ideal for downloading if you use Windows Media Player. These files must be fully downloaded before they can be played back.
- Medium Quality FLV – choose this if you want to view good quality streaming video. Most broadband connections will be able to play this rate, but with a slow ADSL connection you may have to wait for a while to get smooth playback.
- Low Quality FLV – this is ideal for streaming, even on fairly low-speed connections. Use this if you have a slow connection, small screen, or just want to check out a video before your download it.
- Those h.264 videos sound great! How do I play them?
- To view h.264/QuickTime videos, use:
- VLC Media Player for Windows, Mac and Linux our recommended option. The player is fast, compatible and will also play almost any video you’ll find on a porn site these days.
- Apple QuickTime Player, available for Windows and Mac. It will play our QuickTime videos fine, but is slower than VLC and not so good for playing porn vidoes in other formats.
- If you look around, you may also find h.264 codecs and support for the mp4 container, which you can use for Windows Media Player.
- Commonly used Linux distributions typically support all video formats.
- You can also use the Streaming h.264 link and view them in your browser, if you have the newest Adobe Flash Player.
- How does streaming video work?
- We use Flash for streaming video – just like you see on YouTube. The streaming is offered in low and medium quality (chose the best one that your internet connection can handle!), and you can seek around in the file just like with a downloaded file. If you have the newest Adobe Flash Player, you can also view the h.264 / QuickTime videos that way – that’s the ‘Standard Quality’ streaming option.
- I can’t find the “Save Target As” menu option in Internet Explorer!
- It may have been disabled by the “Content Advisor”. See this Microsoft Knowledge Base article for information on how to fix this problem.
- I’ve followed the instructions and most of the videos work, but one of them won’t play!
- The video file may be incompletely downloaded or it may be corrupt. Check that the file size (in megabytes) correspond with what’s listed in the video index (next to the download link you used). You can try downloading the video again. If that doesn’t help, there may be something wrong with the video file we’ve published (yes, this actually happens from time to time, particularly with Windows Media Player which is very picky about video files) – in that case, let us know and we’ll fix it.
- Do you use DRM? Can I view the videos offline?
- No, we don’t use DRM (Digital Restrictions Management). In fact, we hate it! You can continue enjoying the videos you’ve downloaded after your subscription has expired.
- Those embedded flash videos are really neat! How do you do it?
- The videos are encoded to FLV using FFmpeg, and then we use the FlowPlayer to play videos in your browser. Both are free / open source software, and you can download the source on the project pages.
